A chartered accountant and executive coach, Ian has spent most of his career leading teams and working with ambitious men and women in professional services, international corporations and early-stage businesses.
Ian has been coaching for several years and brings to his coaching a strong business focus underpinned by both senior financial and general management experience. Ian provides an excellent insight and support for the challenges’ individuals face in developing their careers from leadership, operational and financial perspectives. Through his coaching, Ian aims to help individuals achieve a clarity in their future direction and an ability to move forward with confidence.
Ian has operated at Managing Director level with experience gained in finance, commercial, operations and client services roles. He has also worked with the leaders of early stage, entrepreneurial businesses focussed on growth and scaling up. Ian’s leadership roles have also spanned transition management, succession planning and changes of ownership and included fund raising with private equity investors and work with listed companies where he led a number of acquisitions and disposals in the UK, Europe and USA. His sector experience includes professional and IT services, telecoms, training and development, private equity, business travel, hotels and event management.
Ian has a Diploma in Coaching from the University of Cambridge and is currently completing a Masters in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology at the University of East London. Ian has also lectured in coaching at Judge Business School, Cambridge. After graduating with an economics honours degree from the University of Cambridge in 1984, Ian qualified as a chartered accountant at one of the UK’s largest international firms, C&L, in 1988 before working in private equity for several years at 3i.
